The 2005 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Murgers displays aromas of ripe blackberry fruit, high-toned cherry-almond extract, wood smoke, and roasted meat, richly saturating the palate with a deep, creamy display of fruit and meat. It finishes with an infectious juiciness that does not preclude profound concentration of black fruits, roasted meats and wet stone. This was part of the most recent bottling run, but just doesn’t seem struck by any ill effects. It should be worth holding for a decade or more. Importer: Frederick Wildman & Sons, New York, NY; tel. Red-ruby. Superripe aromas of black raspberry, flowers and chocolate. Fat with creamy, liqueur-like fruit; this has an exotic marzipan character that contributes to its early appeal. But despite its superripeness, there's a medicinal aspect on the back end that suggests this will enjoy a long life in bottle. Very big wine, with sweet tannins.
