Score 91/100 · Drink 2019-2034, Jeb Dunnuck, Jan 2019

Looking first at the 2016 Merlot Seavey Vineyard, this medium to full-bodied effort is nicely concentrated and has impressive cassis, graphite, bouquet garni, and a touch of minerality. It’s balanced, has a great texture, and is an outstanding Merlot.

Seavey's 2016 Merlot Estate is powerful, dense and savory, as wines from this Conn Valley estate tend to be. Lavender, sage and tobacco add layers of nuance to this super-expressive Merlot. Far from an easygoing wine, the Seavey Merlot needs time to fully come together. There is so much character and personality here.

Score 89/100 · Drink 2018-2026, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Oct 2018

Composed of 95% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot aged 20 months in 33% new French oak, the 2016 Merlot is deep garnet-purple colored with warm plums, Black Forest cake and fruitcake scents with hints of black pepper, garrigue and tilled soil. It's full-bodied with plenty of plum and earth flavors filling the palate, supported by soft tannins and just enough freshness, finishing earthy. 302 cases produced.
