The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin La Marie comes from vines just under Château de Gevrey. Oyster shells mark the nose that (again) is very focused, the intensity dialed up a notch over the regular Gevrey-Chambertin. The palate is taut and saline, very energetic and tensile, almost steely, yet it blossoms on the finish with just the right amount of sapidity. I absolutely love this.

Richer and more layered than the domaine's regular Gevrey-Chambertin bottling, the rare 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin La Marie mingles aromas of cassis and plums with hints of smoke and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, deep and velvety, with fine, concentrated powdery tannins and lively acids, Bertrand Dugat observes that the wine's personality reminds him of his father Claude.
