Medium bright red. Very reticent scents of redcurrant and animal fur are accented by a cool peppery note. Tightly wound, penetrating and quite dry; in a distinctly cooler, peppery style, showing limited sweetness and give. Finishes with ripe tannins and good length but this is tough going today--and not showing the richness it displayed in the fall of 2015.

Good bright red. More meat and smoke to the dark fruit aromas; smells energetic. Then surprisingly rich in the mouth, but the dark fruit flavors come across as a bit youthfully backward in spite of the wine's excellent _ sucrosité_. Finishes firmly tannic and long.
