Seeing an extended élevage of 30 months in 95% new French oak, the 2016 Feather Vintage Select has a great nose of ripe black (and some blue) fruits as well as notes of camphor, new saddle leather, espresso, and chocolatey oak. With full-bodied richness, a rich, stacked mid-palate, and lots of tannins, it's going to need at least 4-5 years of bottle age to shed some baby fat, tannins, and oak, yet I do like its overall balance, and it has beautiful fruit as well as a great finish. Just do your best to hide bottles for at least 4-5 years.

Dark-fruited and open-knit, the 2016 Feather Vintage Select Reserve has an approachability with generous black-toned fruits that seem almost stewed and sway with bountiful aromas and chocolate-covered graham cracker. Full-bodied, the wine is bold and lush with stewed plums and dark cherry skin before showing gripping tannins on the mid-palate. The wine ends with an elevated alcohol lift on the long, drying finish with black tea flavors and dark berry skin.

Bright ruby-red. Medicinal aromas of black cherry, cassis, licorice, bitter chocolate, black olive and sexy new oak, all lifted by a violet topnote. A very suave, delineated Cabernet with a mineral firmness and noteworthy thrust. This wine (made by Randy Dunn) is reminiscent of a Napa Valley Cabernet but also nicely hides its alcohol. Finishes long and juicy, with silky, building tannins and a firm structure to ensure graceful evolution in bottle. (14.9% alcohol; aged in 90% new tighter-grained oak)

Made by Randy Dunn, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Feather is focused with a fresh and dusty core of black fruit. It has good mineral tension on the blackberry-scented nose and soft expressions of chocolate-dipped hazelnuts on the palate. The complexity on the full-bodied palate is broad and deep, with a focused structure and finessed ripe fruit that reveals silky tannins. The Feather ends with a long finish that is thoughtfully crafted. 2,930 cases produced.
