The 2021 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard is terrific. Deep and dense on the palate, with tons of explosive energy, the 2021 dazzles from start to finish. Dark blue/purplish fruit, lavender, sage, mint, tobacco, incense and dried flowers build as this potent, brooding Santa Lucia Highlands wine shows off its personality. This is a super-classic wine from the Pisoni Vineyard as interpreted by the Franscioni family at ROAR.

Last of the Santa Lucia Highland releases, the 2021 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard comes from a warmer site yet more granitic soils in the southern portion of the appellation. It has a concentrated, medium to full-bodied style that brings a darker, more mineral-driven style yet still has ample darker berry and redcurrant fruits as well as chalky minerality, spring flowers, and black tea-like nuances. I love its overall balance, and it has a layered, seamless mouthfeel, terrific mid-palate depth, and outstanding length. This beauty will evolve for 10-12 years if well-stored.
