The 2020 Chardonnay Drew Vineyard is light and airy in this vintage, with pretty citrus and floral character lifted by bright acids. Ideally, this might have a bit more on the mid-palate, but the house style favors briskness these days, and that is generally a positive.
Fine, creamy nose with lime, fine lees and pastries that extend to a textured, medium-to full-bodied palate. Subtle, fresh and long, with a nice serving of praline in the creamy finish. Drink or hold.
From a Mount Veeder vineyard that sits around 1,500 feet above sea level, the 2020 Chardonnay Drew Vineyard stylistically splits the difference between the two Carneros bottlings. Using the same oak regime (30% new French, 70% second-fill barrels), it delivers subtle notes of pencil shavings layered against a backdrop of citrus and stone fruit. Medium to full-bodied, with a silky, custardy feel, it's easy to drink yet finishes clean and refreshing.
