(14.8% alcohol) Good deep red. High-toned, superripe aromas of roasted berries, cherry and smoke; very zinfandel. Then sweet, powerful and penetrating in the mouth, with jammy berries and repeating smokiness. Firm acidity extends the strong fruit on the finish, which features fine-grained tannins.

Score 90/100 · Drink 2005-2012, Robert Parker, Dec 2005

The 2003 Zinfandel Monte Rosso boasts a complex perfume of licorice, black cherries, mountain berries, and truffles. It possesses copious tannin and acidity as well as a more backward style, loads of freshness and a large-framed body. Not as juicy as the Aldo’s Vineyard, it is more terroir-driven with abundant minerality. It should drink well for 5-7 years or more. Tel. (707) 257-7555; Fax (707) 257-0105
