(58% zinfandel, 27% syrah and 15% mourvedre) Dark red. Briary red berries and spices on the nose. Creamy-sweet, high-toned and concentrated, with strong red fruit flavors. Finishes long and strong, with sweet tannins. I might have scored this higher but for a faint gassiness.

A knock-out effort boasting stunning aromatics and flavors, the 2004 Cherry Red (280 cases) is a blend of 58% Zinfandel, 27% Syrah, and 15% Mourvedre. This sumptuous offering demonstrates what can be achieved by intelligent blending from great sites. Its 16.2% alcohol is well-hidden by a cascade of blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry fruit as well as hints of white flowers and spice. Pure, full-bodied, rich, gorgeously streamlined, linear, and well-delineated, it will drink well for 6-8 years. the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered after spending 16 months or more in primarily American wood barrels, of which approximately 20-30% is new. If you haven’t discovered the wines of Linne Calodo, it’s about time as this is one of the up-and-coming superstar performers in Paso Robles. Tel. (805) 227-0797
