Vivid purple. Deep-pitched cassis, cherry-vanilla, espresso, licorice and pipe tobacco aromas are complemented by a building floral note and a hint of spicy cracked pepper. Rich yet energetic, showing solid thrust and spicy lift to the lush dark berry preserve, mocha, fruitcake and rose pastille flavors. Finishes on a smoky note, with strong tenacity, lingering oak spice and floral character, and steadily building tannins. 100% new French oak for 22 months.

The 2019 Mayote is a blend of 45% Cabernet Franc, 40% Merlot and 15% Petit Verdot, made from free-run juice and aged 22 months in 100% new French oak. It has pure aromas of violets, blueberry preserves and mint chocolate. The palate has alluring floral character and loads of pixelated tannins, finishing very long. It's a bit more coiled than some of the other 2019s and will benefit from at least another 3-5 years in the cellar.

Lots of blackberry, currants, graphite, spice, and meaty, mineral notes emerge from the 2019 Mayote, a full-bodied blend of 45% Cabernet Franc, 40% Merlot, and the balance Petit Verdot brought up in new barrels. It's concentrated, firm, and structured on the palate, with terrific purity of fruit. Hide bottles for a year or three and enjoy over the following decade.
