Score 89/100 · Drink 2000-2009, Pierre Rovani, Jun 2000

The 1998 Tokay-Pinot Gris Vieilles Vignes Cuvee Alexandre offers delightful aromatics of smoke and ripe apples. It possesses huge richness in its tropical, yellow fruit-flavored character. This fat yet well-balanced wine is medium to full-bodied, and should be consumed over the course of the next 7-9 years. Importer: Weygandt-Metzler, Peter Weygandt, Unionville, PA; tel (610) 486-0800.

More yellow color. Spicy, charry, citrus oil aromas. Sweet, fat, spicy and large-scaled; manages to wear its alcohol and 60 g/l r.s. fairly gracefully. Shows a distinctly crystallized fruit character in the mouth. This will need bottle aging to lose some of its sugar.
