From a tiny 6.75-acre vineyard in St. Helena composed of rocky, darker soils, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Tournahu Vineyard is a full-bodied, forward, fleshy, even flamboyant effort that’s loaded with earthy black fruits, tobacco, and chocolate. With moderate tannins, fruit galore, and some Old World, savory, meaty characteristics developing with time in the glass, drink this total crowd-pleaser over the coming 10-15 years or more.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Tournahu Vineyard emerges from a parcel of old-vine Clone 7 Cabernet. Deep, layered and sensual, the Tournahu shows all the richness that is typical of Saint Helena's Northern Corridor. Inky blue and purplish berry fruit, licorice, chocolate, menthol and new leather build into the potent finish. Time in the glass brings out a bit of sensuality.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Tournahu Vineyard is a totally different animal from the 2015 tasted alongside it. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, chocolate, spice and new leather all develop in the glass. Ample and generous, with great purity of fruit and terrific overall balance, the 2016 has quite a bit to offer.
