Score 92/100 · Drink 2020-2028, Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate, May 2020

Grown at the Stone Valley vineyard, the 2016 Graviere Syrah is an expressive and fruit-driven Syrah on the nose with the telltale signs of black pepper, gleaming with a dusty rigidity. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is rich and full, showcasing flavors of blueberry and black berry with a spicy essence of fresh cracked black pepper, bitter dark chocolate and wild black raspberries. The complexity is majestic across the mid-palate, with a balanced structure and ending with a tannic and tart finish. Give this one some time to come around, as it is still in its youth and will be better in 3-5 years. Only 211 cases produced. This gets my recommendation. Well done.

The 2016 Syrah Graviere Stone Valley Vineyard checks in as a blend of 94% Syrah and 6% Viognier that's all from a site in the Walla Walla Valley. It has an incredibly exotic bouquet of plum, blueberries, peach, tropical fruits, and flowers. With beautiful purity, medium body, fine tannins, and a great finish, it's a singular, interesting wine that's beautifully made. It's good today yet should keep for upwards of a decade.
