Score 96/100 · Drink 2021-2036, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2021

All varietal and deep ruby/purple-hued, the 2018 Tempranillo Red Mountain Estate has a great nose of black raspberry and blueberry fruits as well as classic Tempranillo spice, dried orange, incense, and baking chocolate. With some classic, savory, earthy Red Mountain character, it packs loads of sweet fruit, has ripe tannins, and a great finish. Drink this beauty any time over the coming 10-15 years. Previously known as Grand Reve, Force Majeure has skyrocketed to the top of the pyramid in Washington State, in no small part due to their talented winemaker, Todd Alexander, who moved from Bryant Family in Napa to Washington State to focus on this estate. While the focus is on their Red Mountain Vineyard, they make a bevy of world-class wines from throughout the Columbia Valley. Anyone doubting the quality coming from Washington State these days owes it to themselves to try these wines.
