The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla Valley is jaw-dropping stuff and shows how age-worthy, as well as just flat-out great, Bordeaux blends from Washington can be. Blended with 7% Merlot, it has a Château Montrose-like bouquet of darker currant and plum fruits as well as damp earth, leafy tobacco, and graphite. These all flow to a full-bodied, broad, seamless Cabernet with ultra-fine tannins, a layered mouthfeel, and a great finish. I love everything about it. Drink bottles over the coming decade.

The 2014 Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon checks in as a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot that was brought up in 60% new French oak. Its deep purple color is followed by a ripe, expansive Cabernet that has loads of plum and currant fruit, notes of leafy herbs and earth, a broad, expansive mouthfeel and a great finish. It has the texture and purity to shine today, yet is going to evolve gracefully for 15+ years.

Medium red-ruby. Aromas of black raspberry, dark cherry, cocoa powder, licorice and wild herbs. Plush and seamless, with dark berry and black cherry flavors enlivened by a pungent mineral quality that provides a perfect foil to the wine's sweetness. Very suave, firm wine with subtle inner-mouth salinity and a long finish featuring glossy tannins and excellent lift. Very nicely balanced from the start but this wine needs a few years in the bottle to expand.
