Score 90/100 · Drink 2016-2021, Robert Parker, Aug 2016

The 2014 Pinot Noir Ridgetop comes from a vineyard owned and managed by Thomas Rivers Brown and Fred Schrader, with Ulises Valdez handling the viticultural work. One hundred percent de-stemmed, this is a darker, more Côte de Nuits styled Pinot Noir, coming from Dijon clones 115, 667 and 777. Forest floor, black cherry, blackcurrant fruit, a more voluminous, medium to full-bodied texture, and lushness are all present in this heady Pinot Noir that tips the scales at 14.4%. This is a beauty and an outstanding effort from Sojourn. Drink it over the next 5- 6 years.

Score 91/100 · Drink 2016-2021, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jul 2016

The 2014 Pinot Noir Ridgetop Vineyard is one of the bigger, racier wines in the lineup, yet even with all of its intensity, it remains lifted and aromatically expressive. Scents of licorice, tar, game and incense give the Ridgetop much of its imposing, virile personality. That impression is reinforced by the wine's dark flavor profile and broad frame. The 2014 has enough structure and explosive energy to drink well for at least a handful of years. A bit eccentric at times, the Ridgetop is nevertheless very nicely done.
