Tasting notes
Score 92/100 · Drink 2024-2040, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Jan 2024

Ruby in colour, the tannins are soft and approachable. Well balanced in its fruit-acidity combination, with touches of raspberry leaf, and smoked earth, this is charming but a little underpowered. Clare Thomas-Chenard technical director first year. Harvest October 3 to 16 (following a year when the harvest was entirely in September, showcasing how much a team needs to be present and alert to what is happening on the ground). 60% new oak, Eric Boissenot consultant.

Sweet and a bit simple. Alcoholic fruit juice. Sandpaper finish. (JR)

Deep ruby/purple with firm tannins and a nice meaty, spiciness, this wine shows slight narrowness and astringency, but it is well-made and certainly above-average. Drink it over the next decade.

A stone’s throw from Saint-Julien, Ch. de Camensac was long underperforming, but – under the ownership of the Merlaut-Villars family – was totally restructured, and quality transformed.
