A firm, muscular, well-endowed St.-Estephe with notes of earth, herbs and a touch of barbecue smoke, this medium-bodied blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc should drink well for up to a decade. A member of the Alliance des Cru Bourgeois du Medoc.

25% Merlot, 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc. Sweet blueberry aroma. Gentle. Then firmer on the palate, oak still quite evident, tannins fine and dry. A little hollow in the middle. (JH)

Was ‘the ugly duckling of the appellation’ but transformed. Thick and sweet. And thoroughly satisfying. Racy. Mid crimson. Good balance but not that intense. Good workmanlike stuff. (JR)
