Score 96/100 · Drink 2006-2021, Robert Parker, Dec 2006

Aged in 500-liter pungeons for 36 months, there are only 676 magnums of the 2003 Syrah Pangea. Representing an homage to Marcel Guigal’s single vineyard Cote Roties (which are aged 42 months in new oak), 100% whole clusters were used to create this profound Syrah. It boasts an opaque blue/purple color as well as a bouquet of ink, graphite, blackberries, cassis, flowers, and licorice. Dense and full-bodied with great precision and definition, this stunning wine demonstrates what innovative winemaking and great fruit can achieve. It should drink well for a minimum of 10-15 years. Previously recommended: 2003 Cuvee Moriah (93), 2003 Syrah Alder Springs (95), 2003 Syrah Alder Springs The Terraces (96), 2003 Syrah Castelli-Knight Ranch (96), 2003 Syrah Cuvee Keltie (94+), 2003 Syrah Griffin’s Lair (95), 2003 Syrah Kobler Family Vineyard (92), 2003 Syrah Obsidian (96), 2003 Syrah Walker Vine Hill (94).  Tel.
