(production here was 90% of normal): Healthy dark red. Cool, slightly medicinal aromas of crushed raspberry, espresso and flowers. Dense, sappy wine with good fullness but also a cool quality to its slightly brooding red cherry fruit. Here the broad tannins are a bit dustier and less elegant than those of the Feusselottes but the finish shows good spicy, floral lift. This doesn't quite come alive today, perhaps because it doesn't possess quite the intensity provided by the seriously frosted parcels in 2016.

The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Sentiers has a light, quite conservative, tertiary bouquet with touches of cedar and tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, well-judged acidity and a low-key but pleasingly precise finish that blossoms with aeration. Very fine.
