The 2020 Les Demoiselles, a blend of 90% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah, is distinctly savory in the glass, wafting up with a burst of black raspberry, crushed stone and spice. This is nearly creamy in feel, with polished red and black fruits accentuated by a Violette Pastille flourish toward the close. It finishes with fantastic freshness and length, leaving tarry wild berries elevated by residual acids and a subtle tug of fine tannin. This radiant beauty is completely harmonious.

A blend of 90% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah, the 2020 Cuvée Les Demoiselles has a medium ruby-purple color and alluring scents of black cherries, blueberries, pipe tobacco, mushrooms, leather and cured meats. The palate is medium-bodied with pleasantly rustic tannins, soft bursts of refreshing acidity and a long, savory finish. Drink it over the short term and serve it with grilled meats.

An intense, meaty mourvedre and syrah blend with dark cherries, asphalt, blackberries. Rich, juicy and flavorful on the palate with lots of fine tannins. Nicely generous, but still fresh and racy. 90% mourvedre and 10% syrah. Drink or hold.

Mostly Mourvèdre (there's a splash of Syrah in here), the 2020 Les Demoiselles is straight-up beautiful, offering lots of blue fruits, notes of violets, herbes de Provence, and graphite, full-bodied richness, and a seamless, layered mouthfeel that builds incrementally on the palate. My money is on this being one of the finest wines in the vintage. I was able to look at the 2020s and 2021s from L’Aventure, both solid vintages. In fact, they might have made some of the best wines in Paso in 2020, and the wines are impressive across the board.
