In addition to a brilliant staple of Cabernet Sauvignons, the estate also releases numerous terrific Syrahs. Coming from a mix of clones and a cooler terroir, the 2017 Syrah Las Madres Vineyard Esther Block is a beauty that delivers loads of character for not much buck. Tasting like a top Saint Joseph with its blueberry, plums, salted meat, ground pepper, and lavender scented bouquet, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a silky texture, terrific fruit intensity, and a great finish. It’s a rockstar of a Syrah in the vintage and will keep for 10-12 years. 75 cases.
