Score 92/100 · Drink 2022-2030, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Sep 2021

A perfect moment to drink this wine, showcasing the generosity of the 2000 vintage in Pessac-Léognan, with a little less of the stubborn tannins that you still find in some of the Médoc classifieds even at the 20 year mark. This focuses on rosebud, tomato leaf, the savoury flavours of Cabernet, and plenty of tobacco and cigarbox tertiary notes, with softened raspberry and red cherry pureed fruits. Fully open and integrated, but still welcoming and with great charm. Harvest September 20 to October 19, 40% new oak.

Not desperately precise though certainly competent. A bit earthbound to be honest. Of the 2002, 2001 and 2000 it is much harder to pick out the different vintage characteristics than for most wines. Big and bold but none of the exceptional smooth qualities that one expects to jump out with this vintage. (JR)

Sweet cedar, plum, currant, and fresh herbs cascade from this evolved, dense ruby/purple-colored 2000. The flavors mirror the aromas - big, sweet, flamboyant notes of cedar, mulberries, black currants, and smoke can be found. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, concentrated, and substantial, this impressive effort should be at its finest between 2005-2016.
