The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru has a little more complexity and precision on the nose compared to the Les Suchots, displaying scents of raspberry, strawberry and Swiss roll. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannin and gentle grip. Quite linear, but shows more substance on the finish compared to the Les Suchots. Very fine.

Very old vines. 70% whole bunch. This parcel just 200 m away from Les Suchots. 25% new oak. Barrel sample. Mid to deep cherry red. Smells ripe, richly fruity with a touch of spice on the nose. A hint of vanilla and richness on the palate too. Dry texture but fluid fruit to fill it out. Seems better integrated and has more flesh on the palate than Les Suchots. (JH)
