Fresh blueberries, blackberries, chocolate, dried flowers and vanilla. Black tea, too. It’s full-bodied with firm, fine and caressing tannins. Long, rich and deep with generous fruit and chocolate. Better from 2023.

There are 739 cases of the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Home Vineyard, which comes from a site in St. Helena and is all Cabernet brought up in 48% new barrels. More blue fruits, violets, flowers, sandalwood, and dried tobacco emerge from this beauty, and it’s medium to full-bodied, with a seamless, elegant texture, terrific purity and a great finish. It’s another rock star wine in this lineup.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Home Vineyard is another superb wine in this range. Here, too the fruit really jumps out. Bright red fruit, blood orange, spice and cedar are all perked up by bright, salivating acids. Hints of rose petal and lavender add striking perfume. The 2018 will drink well pretty much right out of the gate. Today, the 2018 is irresistible for its forward, inviting personality.
