The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is shorter and not as profound as many of the other Brunellos from this extraordinary vintage. The bouquet offers moderate aromas of cherry and dark spice with licorice, cola and grilled herb at the back. The bouquet hits all the right marks. However, this wine glides overs the palate in quick waves and leaves little impact on the mid-palate. I was very surprised by this wine's mild-mannered approach, especially for a vintage that is characterized by power.

Bright ruby. Pungent and distinctive with some wild, almost flyaway fruit on the nose. Smoky, verging on volatile. Needs to settle down. (JR)

The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino comes across as green and medicinal, with strong herbal notes and limited overall depth. Tasted twice with consistent notes.

Just mid ruby with orange tinges. Lifted, raspberry sweet/sour nose and a little wild. Cherry and raspberry on the palate. Long, chewy and tangy finish, but still needs to find its form. (WS)
