Score 93/100 · Drink 2020-2027, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Oct 2020

Aged 18 months in 20% new French oak, the 2018 Hard Point Grenache has lush red and blueberry fruit on the nose with hints of aniseed and garrigue. The palate is full-bodied with broad, warm fruit character supported by grainy tannins and lifted with bright pops of freshness. 200 cases were made.

Score 95/100 · Drink 2022-2030, Jeb Dunnuck, Sep 2020

Moving to the 2018s, the 2018 Grenache Hard Point is all Grenache brought up mostly in neutral oak. Its ruby/plum color is followed by a pretty nose of black raspberries, crushed violets, peppery herbs, wild strawberries. It shows the pure, elegant, focused style of the vintage, offering medium to full-bodied richness, beautiful depth of fruit and texture, and a great finish. It needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will drink brilliantly through 2030.
