The 2013 Riesling Trocken Landgeflecht is fascinatingly clear, fresh and elegant on the aromatic nose. From a humid autumn and grapes with thin skins and a pink color indicating over-ripeness, this is a beautifully round and elegant, lush and balanced Landgeflecht with ripe, fine acidity and a long, tensioned, saline and grippy finish. This is a spectacular rich but refined and elegant Riesling with very tannins and lingering salinity. It's a great, dynamic and finely bitter Landgeflecht with great substance and still potential to age for more than two decades. Tasted at the domaine in August 2022.

Named for a low-lying sector of the Oestricher Doosberg, this bottling that spent 22 months in cask is pithy and piquant, with fruit pit notes featuring prominently already in the nose and lending the finish a glowing intensity akin to that found in the corresponding Doosberg. That Doosberg’s rich layering and sweet fruit ripeness at first appeared to be absent here, but it was simply a matter of time in the open glass. On an expansive, silken, subtly oily palate, fresh apricot is allied with remarkable transparency to fascinatingly savory iodine-tinged shrimp shell reduction and medicinally concentrated green herbal extracts, the whole leavened with brightly juicy fresh lemon and leading to a mouthwatering finish whose flavors you will have trouble licking off of your lips.
