The 2013 My Soul Is Rested is a blend of co-fermented Petite Sirah and Roussanne. It is also a wine I have no real frame of reference for. Sweet and eccentric, the 2013 also falls apart in the glass as the elements separate and reveal a wine that has not yet come together. Drops of Grenache and Syrah round out the blend.

A rich, glass-staining purple color, the 2013 My Soul is Rested checks in as a crazy blend of 45% Petite Sirah, 45% Roussanne, 6% Grenache and 4% Syrah. Given the amount of Roussanne in the blend, the color is incredible. Offering up tons of dark berry fruit, chocolate, iron, peppery herbs and earth, with an exotic character that’s hard to place, this serious wine has full-bodied richness, impeccable balance, polished tannin and a pure, elegant personality that will keep it drinking nicely for a decade. It’s well worth checking out!
