The 2012 Merlot from Juslyn shocked me with its richness and concentration. Coming entirely from their Spring Mountain estate, the final blend is 87% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc. They only made 150 cases, aged it nearly 30 months in three-fourths new French oak, but they have certainly produced a winner. Deep ruby/purple, with a bright, vibrant, gorgeous nose of espresso, mocha, white chocolate, black cherries and darker currants, the wine has velvety tannins, a supple, rather fleshy, succulent mouthfeel, and a juicy, plush texture. This is irresistible wine should continue to drink well for at least another decade or more.
