A blend of three clones (115, 667, Pommard), Etude's 2021 Pinot Noir Fiddlestix Vineyard is perfumed and floral, with those intriguing shadings balanced against a backdrop of black cherries. It's the biggest of the Etude Pinot Noirs from this vintage, weighing in at 14.8% alcohol, but it doesn't seem heavy, as the acids are reasonably high, giving a sense of verve and brightness, particularly on the tart, lingering finish.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Fiddlestix Vineyard is one of the riper wines in this range. Succulent dark cherry, red plum, sweet spice and cedar are pushed and forward. The 2021 comes across as a bit riper than previous years, but this is also the first vintage made since the vineyard was sold and a new farming program began. In exchange, the 2021 offers tons of immediacy. This is a very good wine, but it is also verging on overripeness.
