The smallest AVA in America, close to Anderson Valley. Pure, focused aromas with lime, cream, feels like it has a faint touch of residual sugar – apparently not, but the fruit is so juicy and perhaps the acid is so rounded that it gives a riper impression. Moderate length but gorgeous citrus and apple fruit that has absolute clarity. (RH)

The 2021 Riesling Cole Ranch is redolent of Jolly Rancher, mint, ginger, lime and lemon confit. Unctuous and layered, the Cole Ranch Riesling is exotic, deep and full of personality. The 2021 was picked a bit riper than most years, which works so well here. In the past I have found this wine a bit severe, but not the 2021. It's a gorgeous wine by any measure.

A vibrant straw hue, the 2021 Riesling Cole Ranch Vineyard is lifted and ripe with fresh fruit of lime candy and redcurrant, as well as wet stone and petrol. This medium-bodied, dry Riesling is refreshing without being overly austere, with ripe peach, mango skin, and saline. A quaffable white, it would be outstanding with Thai food. Drink 2023-2033. 325 cases produced. Ross Cobb and his parents founded his eponymous winery in 2001, with the original parcels planted by his mother Diane in 1989. With a focus on single-vineyard Pinot Noir offerings, he also produces high-quality Riesling and Chardonnay. Marking the 21st vintage for the estate, followers of his wines will notice that he’s just updated the wine labels for the first time.
