North of Sonoma Coast although most of his wine is Sonoma Coast. He doesn't make this wine any more. Higher elevation owned by Rich Savoy (also Littorai one-acre block). All fruit sourced by the acre to control the viticulture. Mostly sandy soils. Both sweet fruited and stemmy. Quite soft, gently spicy but no new oak. A slight bitter/sweetness on the finish as if it was fermented slightly warm? (JH)

From a site of 400 m altitude on decomposed sandstone. Organic viticulture and mixed Dijon clones, 1.5 tonnes per acre. All destemmed (unlike his other cuvées). Aged for 18 months on lees in 30% new Francois Frères barrels. Pale ruby. Cool and pure on the nose – scents of forest floor. Quite a sweet start – should please many even in the short term. Very fresh. A little simpler and more forward than his other 2009s. Satisfying mouthful of fruit that finishes dry and appetising. Not a hint of residual sugar. (JR)

Vivid red. High-pitched aromas of strawberry, redcurrant and cherry, with a deeper cocoa powder note in the background. Sappy, focused red fruit flavors pick up a bitter chocolate note with air and show good depth. Nicely structured if a bit strict right now, finishing with good clarity and grip. Give this some air.
