2013 Julien Pilon Côte-Rôtie La Porchette

(made from a blend of fruit grown in the northern and southern sectors of the appellation): Bright purple. Heady mineral- and spice-accented aromas of red and dark berries and smoked meat, with a suave floral accent adding complexity. At once juicy and expansive on the palate, offering energetic black raspberry and violet pastille flavors and repeating smokiness. Finishes on a zesty mineral note, with very good clarity and even tannins.
