2014 Bodega de Edgar Toro de Paso

The Tempranillo dominated (the blend is 70% Tempranillo, 20% Grenache and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon) 2014 Toro De Paso was mostly destemmed (10-30% stems were used) and brought up in a combination of French and American oak. It sports a deep ruby/purple color as well as terrific notes of blackcurrants, toasted bread, graphite and spice. Like that other cuvées here, I suspect it's the best to date and it's balanced, concentrated and nicely structured. All these will benefit from short term cellaring and keep through 2024. These latest 2014s from winemaker Edgar Torres are terrific, and the prices remain reasonable. Torres likes to experiment with eclectic blends (and likes plenty of Tempranillo) and these are character filled, singular wines well worth your time and money.
