2020 Caparzo Ca' del Pazzo Sant'Antimo Rosso

The Caparzo 2020 Cà del Pazzo is a 50-50 blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. It shows a very intense bouquet with aromas of pressed blackberry, incense and aromatic resin (like frankincense). The bouquet is quite fragrant and bold, and there is an exotic quality to this wine that removes you mentally from Montalcino, the homeland of some of Italy's best Sangiovese. It closes with a firm tannic bite (over a medium mouthfeel) that needs a fatty cut of meat as an ideal pairing partner. Production is 13,500 bottles.
