Bright ruby-red. Aromas of blackberry, licorice, cocoa powder and nutty oak. Then tighter and less sweet on the palate than the Lakeview bottling, showing a youthfully ungiving quality to its dark fruit flavors. Good intensity here but today the wine's tannins cut off the fruit. This vineyard was harvested first, after the early October rainy spell. Seems a bit undernourished.

The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Treva's Vineyard is by far the most reticent of the three 2011s I tasted from Harris. Intensely mineral and savory, the 2011 boasts huge fruit and equally imposing tannins that are going to require patience. Iron, graphite, smoke and licorice flow through to the huge, structured finish. The Treva's is a wine for the cellar, there is little doubt about that. This is another drop-dead gorgeous showing from Harris and winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown. There is plenty of Diamond Mountain character here.

The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Treva’s Vineyard is made in a chalkier, earthier style with more tannin and structure, but not the fruit intensity one would expect. It’s good, but obviously the vintage has limited the possibilities of many a vineyard. Tel. (707) 942-1513

The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Treva's Vineyard is wonderfully alive in the glass. Savory herbs, graphite, flowers and mint are nicely supported by veins of cool, incisive minerality. Like all of the 2011s here, the Treva's is smaller scaled than normal, but its overall balance is terrific.
