Starting out, and the only 2015 I was able to taste, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Regusci Vineyard is a monumental effort that boasts a huge, opulent, incredibly sexy style to go with classic black and blue fruits, incense, spice, and fruitcake aromas and flavors. It has a stacked mid-palate, sweet tannins, and no hard edges, and just delivers the goods. Don’t miss a chance to buy this wine if you find bottles. Carerwaul is a new collaboration between superstar winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown and Matt Hardin from Barbour Vineyard Management. Started in 2014, they produce a Napa Valley Cabernet from Matt’s estate vineyard in Pope Valley and a Regusci Vineyard release from Stags Leap. As Cabernet goes from Napa Valley, these are incredible values that should be snatched up by readers.

Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 “Regusci Vineyard” Cabernet Sauvignon features beautiful ripe plums, black cherries and dark chocolate with suggestions of red currants, black raspberries and spice box plus hints of Sichuan pepper, underbrush and pencil shavings. The full-bodied palate is full-on decadent, featuring rich, velvet-lined black fruit and exotic spice layers, accented by red berry and earthy notions and finishing with great length and depth. 130 cases were produced.
