2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Star Vineyard

In the bottle, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Star Vineyard is from a well-known site in the Rutherford AVA I have loved in the past. This is a relatively small cuvée of only 150 cases bottled unfined and unfiltered. A different expression of Cabernet altogether, the wine offers up blackberry, black cherry, a touch of white chocolate and coffee bean, less minerality and floral notes, but loads of fruit, a multi-tiered mouthfeel, licorice and toasty oak. This is another beauty and further evidence that B Cellars needs to be pushed up to the highest echelon of superb producers in Napa Valley – a field getting increasingly crowded given the great vintages and competition that exists in that Shangri-La viticultural area.
