Score 87/100 · Drink 2016-2021, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2016

Bright ruby-red. Cool, slightly weedy aromas of currant, rhubarb and leather. Offers an attractive balance of savory and sweet character but shows a faint herbal dryness throughout. Finishes with firm, slightly dry tannins. This Cabernet has plenty of life but seems a bit bound-up and in a state of suspended animation and is unlikely to blossom.

Quite well integrated, but almost so well groomed and so well behaved that it's very slightly dull. (JR)

Shy nose, with a tight yet bright palate. Cassis, boysenberry and sandalwood ride a wave of refreshing acidity. Medium-bodied and refined, with smooth tannins and 13.6 per cent alcohol. (LM) $39
