Score 92/100 · Drink 2020-2027, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Sep 2019

The 2016 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is medium ruby and youthfully coiled, very slowly revealing scents of fresh cranberries, red cherries, ripe red berries, lavender, pipe tobacco, earth and Earl Grey tea leaves. Medium-bodied and silky, it has a concentrated flavors evolving in the mouth with firm, grainy tannins and juicy freshness, finishing long and perfumed. This will benefit from another year in bottle. 522 cases produced.

The 2016 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vineyard spent 18 months in 41% new French oak. Its deeper ruby color is followed by more black fruits, scorched earth, and mineral aromas and flavors. It's downright vibrant and racy on the palate, yet I like its tension and elegance, and I suspect it will age nicely.

Dark bright-rimmed red. Vibrant, mineral-accented red berry and cherry scents are complemented by exotic potpourri and incense flourishes. Sweet, seamless and expansive on the palate, offering concentrated bitter cherry and red currant flavors that take a sweeter turn on the back half. Smoothly blends power and delicacy and finishes very long and smoky, revealing a vanilla note and dusty, steadily building tannins.
