Wafting from the glass with elegant floral tones, the 2018 Viognier Powerline Estate expresses a fresh, clean and ripe profile of tropical fruit and stone fruit essences that emanates with aromas of vanilla, white peach and honeysuckle. Full-bodied and with 15% alcohol, the palate displays an impressive balance; the generosity of the wine is in harmony with the structure, offering elements of cream soda, candied apple and fresh citrus blossom. The wine ends with a long, textural finish with a kiss of sweetness and phenolic bitterness. The wine rested for 18 months in barrels, on the lees in 17% new demi-muids. Bravo, it’s rockin’ good! Just under 4,000 bottles were produced.

Pale bright yellow. Pure nose combines peach, spices, flowers and a whiff of honey. Plush, supple Viognier with lovely depth of flavor and a higher-pH silkiness. Not quite saline but nicely unctuous (15% alcohol on the label). Finishes seamless and slightly sweet, broad but firm. I'd enjoy this over the near term as it does not have the acidity or grip of the Art Den Hoed version. (aged in 50% new demi-muids )
