Bright, full red. Musky, wild aromas of red fruits and leather. Fatter and sweeter than the 2013 version, offering good mouthfilling density. A chocolatey quality is leavened by saline minerality on the youthfully aggressive finish.

(still on its lees in barrel and not yet racked): Good bright, medium red. Cherry, leather and smoke on the rather austere nose. Offers more depth and texture than the Volnay Santenots, showing a distinct saline quality to the red fruit and soil flavors. Vinified with a bit of whole clusters.

One of the more distinctive wines in the range, the 2012 Beaune Grèves is showing beautifully. Dark red berries, graphite and smoke are some of the notes that take shape in the glass. This is an especially dark, brooding Grèves. The focus and delineation here are compelling.
