The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chaumées unfurls in the glass with notes of freshly baked bread, crisp green orchard fruit, white flowers and pastry cream. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and open-knit, with a tender, charming profile and a vibrant finish. This hails from the steepest sloping site in Colin's domaine.

Bright, green-tinged yellow. Lively scents of lime and green tropical fruits, plus a trace of green apple. Offers good texture and thickness, but there's an intrusive malic note here that will need time to harmonize with the wine's fruit. Less evolved than the Saint-Aubin Le Charmois, with its slightly dusty finish showing a bitter edge. Tricky to taste today but I suspect this will make a very refreshing bottle.
