A blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot aged 16 months in new French oak, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Selection offers a pretty, perfumed, elegant style as well as surprising elegance. Blueberries, spring flowers, incense and hints of graphite all flow to a medium to full-bodied, seamless, downright pretty Cabernet Sauvignon that has light tannin and a clean finish. Drink it over the coming decade.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Selection is a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot. (I don’t believe the word “Diamond” in the title has anything to do with Diamond Mountain.) Supple textured and slightly softer than the Atlas Peak, with less obvious minerality but with more juicy blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, judiciously dosed with some attractive toasty oak, the wine is full-bodied, rather round, opulent, pleasurable and satisfying. The softness of the tannin and lush fruit suggest drinking it now and over the next 10-12 years.
