Score 94/100 · Drink 2025-2045, Jeb Dunnuck, Dec 2025

Coming from a site in Calistoga, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Lamb Vineyard offers ripe red and black fruit with lots of chocolate, dried herbs, and loamy earth. Aged 22 months in French oak barrels (80% new), it's medium to full-bodied, has ripe yet building tannins, and a great finish. It's another beautiful 2021 from this producer to enjoy over the coming 15-20 years. Drink 2025-2045.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Lamb Vineyard shows a riper, more sensual side of Calistoga, but it packs plenty of punch too. Red/purplish fruit, sweet spice, flowers, mint and blood orange abound. The tannins here are a bit softer than in the Coach Insignia, and that lends a palpable feeling of elegance throughout.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Lamb Vineyard offers a fascinating contrast to the Coach Insignia, which is just across the road. Bold savory and earthy flavors dominate, while tannins are much more imposing as well. A blast of dark cherry, plum, gravel, incense, and blue/purplish fruit builds as this virile, structured Cabernet shows off its considerable pedigree.
