Score 93/100 · Drink 1996-2007, Robert Parker, Oct 1992

I have never had a Nuits St.-Georges-Les Chaboeufs as great as this 1990 offering from J.J. Confuron. Consumers may remember how rustic, thin, and uninteresting Confuron's wines were a few years ago. This offering, which boasts an opaque black/purple color and a sensational nose of roasted black-cherries and spicy, toasty new oak, is exceptionally concentrated, tasting as if it were the essence of Pinot Noir. The wine is crammed with glycerin and lavishly rich, super-ripe fruit. There are considerable tannins in the long, impressive finish. This is one 1990 that should be cellared for 4-5 years; it will keep for 12-15. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC.
