Brilliant ruby-red. Spice-accented cherry and raspberry on the nose; a vibrant mineral element builds as the wine opens up. Juicy and penetrating on the palate, offering gently sweet red/blue fruit flavors and hints of violet and allspice. Fine-grained tannins build slowly on a very long, spice-driven finish framed by gentle, even tannins.

The 2016 Morgon Vieilles Vignes, which comes from vines averaging 60 years of age, offers intriguing, truffle-like scents on the nose that neatly complement the black fruit. There is a tertiary aspect to this Morgon, articulating its terroir with style. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, well structured and firm in the mouth with a slight garrigue-like note enhancing the long finish. Excellent.
