The 2013 Atlas Vinas is a Mourvedre-dominated cuvee that incorporates 30% Grenache and 16% Syrah. Fermented with 30% whole clusters and aged 24 months in a mix of 500-, 226- and 228-liter barrels, it has an exotic bouquet of plum pit, spice box, ripe cherries and underbrush to go with a medium to full-bodied, rich and impeccably textured feel on the palate. The tannin is ripe and it has nicely integrated acidity, all suggesting it will evolve gracefully (although it might close down slightly with its big Mourvedre component). It should have a decade of longevity.

Inky ruby. An exotically perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red berries, incense, candied flowers and star anise. Takes a deeper turn to blue fruits on the palate, which features a suave spicecake nuance and a touch of white pepper. Sappy, focused and sweet, with outstanding closing thrust and supple yet gripping tannins.
