The 2014 Barbaresco Vanotu is just as compelling from bottle as it was from barrel. Like the Tulin, the Vanotu is decidedly big and tannic in feel. Black cherry, mocha, plum, leather, gravel, licorice and dark spice find support from beams of tannin that give the wine its shape. The Vanotu finishes with serious weight and pure power. The Vanotu is another wine that demands cellaring.

The 2014 Barbaresco Vanotu is young, vibrant and beautifully focused. Even though the 2014 is still in oak, it has absorbed its new oak better than some other vintages at a similar stage, which is one of the signs of a wine with tremendous structure as well as potential. The wine's energy, focus and cut are all a marvel to behold. I can't wait to taste this from bottle.
